Sri Lankan fishermen photo essay.
Photo essay of local beach fishermen and women of the Kalpitiya coastal area located in western region of Puttalam District, Sri Lanka. The whole village participates in a modest catch each tide - all by hand from the beach.
The women take the woven baskets back to the straw huts to prepare the fish under shade with the children, with the men sorting the nets, floats and boats in the soaring heat of the day amongst opportunistic birds.
